First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures:

- First-aid measures after inhalation: Seek medical attention if you feel unwell or if exposure prolonged. Move to fresh air.

- First-aid measures after skin contact: Wash affected skin with soap and plenty of water. Remove contaminated clothing.

- First-aid measures after eye contact: Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 10 minutes taking care to wash under the

eyelids. Seek medical attention.

- First-aid measures after ingestion: Clean mouth with water and then drink plenty of water. Seek medical attention.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed:

- Symptoms/injuries: Call a doctor immediately.

- Known symptoms/injuries after inhalation: Temporary respiratory tract discomfort.

- Known symptoms/injuries after eye contact: Temporary eye discomfort.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

- Treatment: The presence of lead in the body can be detected by determining the amount of this substance in the blood and/or urine

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media:

- Suitable extinguishing media: Foam, Dry Powder, Water Spray.

- Unsuitable extinguishing media: Carbon Dioxide.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:

- Fire hazard:  The product itself is not flammable. However, in combination with organic substances, it may act as oxidizing agent and promote combustion.

- Reactivity: May be dissolved in strong acids or alkalis. In the event of a fire, oxides of lead, chromium and antimony may be generated.

Advice for firefighters:

- Protection during firefighting: Full protective clothing. Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus.

- Other information: Do not release chemically contaminated water into drains, soil or surface water. Sufficient measures must be taken to retain the water used for extinguishing. Dispose of contaminated water and soil according to local regulations.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:

For non-emergency personnel. Protective equipment: Avoid inhalation and ingestion. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing.

For emergency responders. Protective equipment: Full protective clothing. Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus.

Environmental precautions:

- Prevent contamination of soil, drains and surface waters. Prevent entry into sewage systems, ground and surface waters.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:

- For containment: Take up mechanically and collect in suitable container (adequately labelled) for disposal. Avoid raising dust. Wear suitable protective equipment.

- Methods for cleaning up: Vacuum with high efficiency filter or use wet clean up technique to avoid dusting. Take up mechanically and collect in suitable container (adequately labelled) for disposal. Collect waste in suitable containers, which can be labelled and sealed. Do not wash indiscriminately down the drains. Wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Wear suitable protective equipment.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:

- Safe handling: Avoid dust formation and ignition sources. Processing machines must be fitted with local exhaust ventilation. Avoid contact with skin, eyes or clothing.

- Hygiene measures:  Wash thoroughly after handling and before eating, drinking or smoking.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:

- Storage conditions:  Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well ventilated place.

Specific end use(s):

- Restricted to Professional Users. Please refer to Annex of the eSDS for identified uses.

Exposure controls / personal protection

1. Technical protection measures: Ensure a strict application of the hierarchy of control and handle the substance in closed system at all times if possible. For additional information, please refer to the Annex of this SDS.

2. Organisational protection measures: Maintain a high standard of industrial hygiene practice. For additional information, please refer to the Annex of this SDS.

3. Hand protection: Wear chemical resistant gloves (EN374) in case of direct contact. Suitable materials should cover also prolonged, direct contact (Recommended: Protective index 6, corresponding >480 minutes of permeation time according to EN 374.

4. Feet protection: Closed footwear.

5. Body protection: Working clothes.

6. Eye protection: Safety glasses with side-shields.

7. Respiratory protection: Wear a respirator with at least an Assigned Protection Factor (APF) of 10 (EN529) or equivalent, when indicated in the exposure scenarios as outlined in the Annex to this SDS.

Appropriate engineering controls: Exposure limit(s) should be monitored using suitable analytical equipment.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity:

May be dissolved in strong acids or alkalis. In the event of a fire, oxides of lead, chromium and antimony may be generated.

Chemical stability:

Product is chemically stable and generally compatible with other substances.

Possibility of hazardous reactions:

No additional information available

Conditions to avoid:

Listed product is not sensitive to static discharge. There is potential for build up of static discharge in packaging during transit, handling and charging of pigment into vessels. Accordingly, appropriate safety procedures should be followed and grounding of equipment is recommended.

Incompatible materials:

No additional information available

Hazardous decomposition products:

Thermal decomposition or burning may release oxides of lead, chromium and antimony, toxic gases/vapours.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods:

- Waste disposal recommendations: Dispose of in accordance with local environmental regulations for hazardous waste.

- Additional information: Contaminated packaging should be emptied as far as possible and disposed of in the same manner as the substance/product.
