Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

No experimental data evaluating the potential for photodegradation of methyl hexanoate (CAS No. 106-70-7) in air are available. Therefore, a QSAR estimation has been performed, leading to an estimated half-life of 81.6 hours (QSAR calculation, AOPWIN v1.92, reaction with OH-radicals, 24h-day)(López Parrón, 2011). Based on its vapour pressure value of 496 Pa at 25ºC, this substance can be expected to show a relevant degree of volatilization into the air. Therefore, photodegradation in air could be a relevant environmental fate process for methyl hexanoate. As this study is not a standard information requirement according to Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 and there is no indication from the CSA according to Annex I on the need to investigate further the fate and behavior of the substance (Annex X requirement), no testing is considered necessary.
