First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: Für Frischluft sorgen und bei Beschwerden Betroffenen
ärztlicher Behandlung zuführen.
"ENGLISH"
Remove to the fresh air and, in the case of complaints, take
the affected person for medical treatment.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Unter Schutz des unverletzten Auges sofort ausgiebig
mit Wasser ausspülen; sofort Arzt hinzuziehen.
"ENGLISH"
Taking care to protect the uninjured eye, rinse out
immediately with copious amounts of water. Seek medical
advice immediately.
Hautreizung Arzt aufzusuchen.
"ENGLISH"
Wash off immediately with soap and water. If skin-irritation
persists, seek medical advice.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Mund ausspülen und reichlich Wasser nachtrinken lassen;
sofort aerztlichen Rat einholen.
"ENGLISH"
Rinse the mouth out and then get the casualty to drink large
quantities of water. Seek medical advice immediately.

Extinguishing agents dependent on the extent of the fire and
local conditions.
Product arising from burning: Kohlendioxid, Kohlenmonoxid, Schwefeldioxid, Chrom(VI)-
Verbindungen.

Carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide,
chromium(VI) compounds.
Traces of other toxic substances cannot be excluded.
No fire risks.
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: Atemschutzgerät, vollständige Schutzkleidung.
"ENGLISH"
Respirator, full protective clothing.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Verschüttetes Chrom(III)methansulfonat ist mechanisch
"ENGLISH"
Take up spilled chromium(III)methane sulphonate mechanically
avoiding the formation of dust (e.g using an industrial
vacuum cleaner of approved type) and dispose of in
accordance with national and local regulations. While doing
so, avoid skin and eye contact as well as inhalation of the
substance by wearing the personal protective equipment
described under "handling".
Label waste containers according to Technical Rule 201.
Handling and storage
men sollten staubdichte Vorrichtungen verwendet werden.
Schutz-
kleidung (z.B.:::) getragen werden. Ein sicherer Augenschutz
(z.B. Korbbrille ggf. zusätzlich mit Gesichtsschutzschild)
ist unbedingt erforderlich.
In unmittelbarer Naehe des Arbeitsbereiches sollten
Augenbrausen bereitgestellt und ihr Standort auffällig
gekennzeichnet werden.
Bei möglicher Staubentwicklung sollten wegen der poten-
tiellen Stauboxplosionsgefahr potentielle Zündquellen aus
dem Arbeisbereich entfernt werden. Des Weiteren sollten
Maßnahmen gegen elektrostatische Aufladungen getroffen
werden.
"ENGLISH"
All of the work processes must always be designed so that
eye contact with the substance is excluded. Inhalation of
the substance as well as skin contact must be avoided.
Dustproof equpment should be used during filling, transfer,
metered feeding and sampling. In the case of handling in
open systems, any dust that may form must be extracted
directly at the point of origin. If technical extraction or
ventilation measures are not possible or are insufficient,
suitable respiratory protection (e.g.:::) should be worn. In
order to avoid dermal contact, tested gloves (e.g. made of
PVC) and, if appropriate, protective clothing (e.g.:::)
should be worn. Safe eye protection (e.g. tightly fitting
goggles, if appropriate, with additional face protection) is
absolutely essential.
Eye douches should be made available in the immediate
vicinity of the working area and their location labelled
conspicously.
If there is the possibility of the formation of dust, due to
the potential dust-explosion risk, potential ignition
sources should be removed from the working area.
Furthermore, measures should be taken to avoid static
discharge.
aufbewahren.
Produktreste an/auf den Behältern vermeiden.
"ENGLISH"
Storage should take place in the original packing drums or
other unbreakable containers that are labelled according to
the regulations. Keep containers tightly closed, secure them
against falling and store them in a cool, well-ventilated
place away from moisture (crystalline chromium methane
sulphonate is highly hygroscopic).
Avoid product residues on the containers.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Luftdicht verschlossene Behälter.

Stability and reactivity
Danger other than fire: Chrom(III)methansulfonat reagiert stark mit Alkalien unter
Bildung von Chromoxidhydrat.
Mit starken Oxidationsmitteln, Dinatriumcarbonat und
Kaliumchlorid zusammen bilden sich toxische Chrom(VI)-
Verbindungen.
vgl.: Lehrbuch der anorganischen Chemie / Hollemann-Wiberg /
101. Auflage, Berlin 1995, S. 1438 ff.
"ENGLISH"
Chromium(III)methane sulphonate reacts vigorously with
alkalis to form chromium oxide hydrate.
Together with strong oxidizing agents, disodium carbonate
and potassium chloride, toxic chromium(VI) compounds form.
cf. literature cited in the above.
Chemical reaction with water: Exotherme Reaktion;
Chrom(III)methansulfonat ist sehr gut wasserlöslich.
"ENGLISH"
