Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Eye Contact:   Check for and remove any contact lenses.  DO NOT use an eye ointment.  Flush eyes with running water for a minimumof 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids.  Seek medical attention.  Treat symptomatically and supportively.

Skin Contact:   If the chemical gets spilled on a clothed portion of the body, remove the contaminated clothes as quickly as possible, protecting your own hands and body.  Place the victim under a deluge shower.  If the chemical touches  the victim's exposed skin, such as the hands: Gently and thoroughly wash the contaminated skin with running water and non-abrasive soap.  Be particularly careful to clean folds, crevices, creases and groin.  Cover the irritated skin with an emollient.  Seek medical attention.  Treat symptomatically and supportively.  Wash any contaminated clothing before reusing.

Inhalation:  If the victim is not breathing, perform artificial respiration.  Loosen tight clothing such as a collar, tie, belt or waistband.  If breathing is difficult, oxygen can be administered.  Seek medical attention.   Treat symptomatically and supportively.

Ingestion:   INDUCE VOMITING by sticking finger in throat.  Lower the head so that the vomit will not reenter the mouth and throat. Loosen tight clothing such as a collar, tie, belt, or waistband.  If the victim is not breathing, administer artificial respiration. Examine the lips and mouth to ascertain whether the tissues are damaged, a possible indication that the toxic material was ingested; the absence of such signs, however, is not conclusive.  Loosen tight clothing such as a collar, tie, belt or waistband.  If the victim is not breathing, perform artificial respiration.  Seek immediate medical attention and, if possible, show the chemical label.  Treat symptomatically and supportively.

Fire-fighting measures

EXTINGUISHING MEDIA

• Foam.

• Dry chemical powder.

• BCF (where regulations permit).

• Carbon dioxide.

• Water spray or fog - Large fires only.

FIRE FIGHTING

• Alert Fire Brigade and tell them location and nature of hazard.

• Wear full body protective clothing with breathing apparatus.

• Prevent, by any means available, spillage from entering drains or water course.

• Use water delivered as a fine spray to control fire and cool adjacent area.

• Avoid spraying water onto liquid pools.

• DO NOT approach containers suspected to be hot.

• Cool fire exposed containers with water spray from a protected location.

• If safe to do so, remove containers from path of fire.

FIRE/EXPLOSION HAZARD

• Combustible.

• Slight fire hazard when exposed to heat or flame.

• Heating may cause expansion or decomposition leading to violent rupture of containers.

• On combustion, may emit toxic fumes of carbon monoxide (CO).

• Mists containing combustible materials may be explosive. Combustion products include: carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO), and other pyrolysis products typical of burning organic material.

Accidental release measures

Spill Cleanup Instructions:

Irritating material. Moisture sensitive material. In case of a spill and/or a leak, always shut off any sources of ignition, ventilate the area, and exercise caution. Use a shovel to put the material into a convenient waste disposal container.  Finish cleaning the spi l l by rinsing any contaminated surfaces with copious amounts of water.

Handling and storage

MOISTURE SENSITIVE.  IRRITANT.  Keep away from heat.  Keep away from sources of ignition.  Empty containers pose a fire risk, evaporate the residue under a fume hood.  Ground all equipment containing material.  DO NOT ingest.  DO NOT breathe dust.  In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment.  If ingested, seek medical advice immediately and show the container or the label.  Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

Always store away from incompatible compounds such as oxidizing agents, moisture.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Engineering Controls:

Use process enclosures, local exhaust venti lation, or other engineering controls to keep airborne levels below recommended exposure limits.  If user operations generate dust, fume or mist, use ventilation to keep exposure to airborne contaminants below the exposure limit.

Personal Protection:

Splash goggles.  Lab coat.  Dust respirator.  Boots.  Gloves.  A MSHA/NIOSH approved respirator should be used to avoid inhalation of the product.     Suggested protective clothing might not be sufficient; consult a specialist BEFORE handling this product.

Not available. Exposure Limits

Stability and reactivity

Stability:

This material is stable if stored under proper conditions.

Conditions of Instability:

Avoid excessive heat and light.

Incompatibilities:

Highly reactive with oxidizing agents, moisture.

Disposal considerations

Waste Disposal:

Recycle to process, if possible.  Consult your local or regional authorities.  You may be able to dissolve or mix material with a combustible solvent and burn in a chemical incinerator equipped with an afterburner and scrubber system.  Observe all federal, state, and local regulations when disposing of this substance.
