Version / remarks:
31 July 1991
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 103 (Boiling point/boiling range)
Version / remarks:
27 July 1995
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:

Key result
Boiling pt.:
149.3 °C
Atm. press.:
1 013 hPa
Decomposition:
yes
Decomp. temp.:
149.3 °C
Remarks on result:
other: It could not clearly distinguished between boiling and decomposition. Therefore, the boiling point is reported as under decomposition.

The following observations were made:

Decomposition

Begin

First determination

149.1 °C

Second determination

149.4 °C

Based on calculations the boiling point was expected far above the measured values. The observed bubbles could also be signs of decomposition with escape of the volatile part. Since detemination of the decomposition fragments was not subject of this study, the boiling point should be stated as 149.3 °C under decomposition.

Conclusions:
The boiling point of 2,2-Dimethyl-3-lauroyloxy-propanal was determined to be 149.3 °C under decomposition.
Executive summary:

The determination of the boiling point of 2,2-Dimethyl-3-lauroyloxy-propanal was performed according to OECD Guidline 103 resp. EU Method A.2.The boiling point was determined as 149.3°C under decomposition, this value being the mean of two independent determinations.
