Conclusions:
The inhibition of the biomass production to 10 and 50% was calculated as 0.28 mg/L and 2.0mg/L, respectively. The inhibition of the growth rate to 10 and 50% was calculated as 2.0 mg/L and >2.0mg/L by extrapolation of the concentration/response curve, respectively, in comparison to the non affected control.
Executive summary:

The chronic toxicity of the substance towards algae was tested according to OECD Guideline 201 and under GLP compliance.

The toxic effect was investigated by determination of the inhibition of the biomass production and the growth rate of the algae after an exposure period of 72 h. The test has been done at the following nominal concentrations: 0; 0.125; 0.25; 0.5; 1.0 and 2.0 mg/L.

Under the conditions being tested a NOEC as well as a 100% inhibition could not be determined. Within the screening-test at 20 mg/L, the inhibition of the biomass production was found to be 99.3% and that of the growth rate was 75.8%.

Description of key information

Based on a study performed according to the OECD 201 guideline and under GLP compliance, the inhibition of the biomass production to 10 and 50% was calculated as 0.28 mg/L and 2.0mg/L, respectively. The inhibition of the growth rate to 10 and 50% was calculated as 2.0 mg/L and >2.0mg/L by extrapolation of the concentration/response curve, respectively, in comparison to the non-affected control.

This study was considered acceptable for that endpoint.
