Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The powder to be tested is blown into a 20L explosion sphere, and the resulting dust cloud is ignited with pyrotechnical igniters having an energy of 10000J. The pressure inside the sphere is recorded. By variation of the delay between production of the cloud and ignition and the dust concentration the most critical conditions are determined. In this screening test only one test series is carried out. According to international standards, three series are required.

To characterize the explosion of the powder Kmax and Pmax are determined.

dP/dt(max) 600 bar/s

P(max) (Screening) 8.4 bar

Kst value (Screening) 163 bar.m/s

Dust explosion Class 1
