Description of key information

The water solubility of reaction mass of DIPE and 2-methylpent-2-ene was found to be 2.828 ± 0.405 g/L at 20 ± 0.5 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
2.828 g/L
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

The water solubility of reaction mass of DIPE and 2-methylpent-2-ene was measured according to OECD 105, respectively EU A.6 guideline under GLP. A solubility of 2.828 ± 0.405 g/L at 20 ± 0.5 °C was measured.

Literature values for the solubility of DIPE, 3.11 g/l (1), the main constituent of the reaction mass (approximately 40%) are similar to the measured value (1). The modelled water solubility of 2 -methyl-2 -pentene, 0.079 g/l (2), is considerably lower. Hence, the maximum solubility of the reaction mass is mainly determined by the solubility of DIPE.
