The aquatic toxicty of the substance Isosorbide dioctanoate was evaluated through the following tests :

- Acute toxicity on fish, Danio rerio (OECD Guideline 203, GLP, Key study, R2) : LLO ≥ 100 mg/L on the basis of the results obtained on a very similar analogue (Isosorbide diester)

- Acute toxicity on invertebrates, Daphnia magna (OECD Guideline 202, GLP, Key study, R1) : EC50 > 1.2 mg/L and a EC0 1.2 mg/L

- Long-term toxicity on the reproduction of Daphnia magna (OECD Guideline 211, GLP, Key study, R2) : NOEC ≥ 1 mg/L on the basis of the results obtained on a very similar analogue (Isosorbide diester).

- Toxicity on green algae, Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata (OECD Guideline201, GLP, Key study, R1) : EC50 > 1.2 mg/L and a EC0≥ 1.2 mg/L

On the basis of the results obtained in the acute aquatic toxicity tests performed on the three trophic levels (fish, invertebrate and algae) and in the long-term reproduction toxicity test on Daphnids, it appears that the substance Isosorbide dioctanoate shows no adverse effects to the aquatic organisms when exposed at its solubility limit in the test media.
