Description of key information

The particle size of the sample of the test material was determined by cascade impaction according to Commission Technical Guidance Document "Particle Size Distribution, Fibre Length and Diameter Distribution" of June 1996. The average particle size was found to be >100μm, since only 11.5% had a particle size of < 100 µm.

Additional information

The inhalable fraction is defined as the mass fraction of particles which can be inhaled by nose or mouth, the thoracic fraction is defined as the mass fraction of particles that passes the larynx and the respirable fraction is defined as the mass fraction of particles that reaches the alveoli.
