Description of key information

EU Method A.10 was applied to the test substance. The substance was shown to be non-flammable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

A red hot platinum wire was applied to a pile of the test substance (the pile used was 25 cm ×25 cm × 1 cm with a triangular cross-section).

On applying the glowing wire, the test material melted in the immediate vicinity of the wire with very brief ignition and rapid extinction.

The test showed that the substance is not highly flammable.

Justification for classification or non-classification

On applying the glowing wire, the test material melted in the immediate vicinity of the wire with very brief ignition and rapid extinction.

The test showed that the substance is non-flammable.

Classification as a flammable solid is not applicable, as due to the rapid extinction of the very brief ignition, the pile of test substance was not ignited and therefore no 'burning time/burning rate' of the pile is applicable.
