Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
13 November 2007 to 10 April 2008
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Study conducted under GLP in accordance with an internationally recognised guideline
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 117 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), HPLC Method)
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.8 (Partition Coefficient)
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
HPLC method
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Analytical method:
high-performance liquid chromatography
Key result
Type:
Pow
Partition coefficient:
> 1 000 000
Temp.:
25 °C
Remarks on result:
not determinable because of methodological limitations
Remarks:
HPLC method was used with a mobile phase of methanol:water (95:5 v/v). The test substance did not elute from the column when an initial volume ratio of methanol:water of 3:1, as specified by the test method, was employed.

Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
> 6
Temp.:
Details on results:
It was evident that the retention time of the test substance was greater than that of DDT under the test conditions. A value of log10Pow for T-13h of greater than 6 was thus obtained.

A preliminary estimate of log10Pow for T-13h was made by a calculation method using a computer program (KOWWIN, Version 1.67, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency). The program estimates the log10Pow value by reference to compound structures for which reliable log10Pow data is available.

The estimated Log Pow was 7.4.

Conclusions:
T-13h was found to have a log10Pow value of greater than 6

Description of key information

The octanol/water partition coefficient of the substance was determined by the HPLC method to be log Pow >6 at 25 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
6

Additional information

The octanol water partition coefficient was measured by HLS, 2008, Report No.: IDK0104.

Log Pow was determined according to OECD Method 117 and was considered reliable.
