Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The NOEC for freshwater fishes is > 105 µg/L, no effects could be observed in the range of water solubility.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

One study investigating the chronic toxicity of the structural related erucamide to Brachydanio rerio was available. The test carried out was similar and adapted from the one described in the ISO Guideline 10229-1: Determination of the Prolonged Toxicity of Substances for Freshwater Fish. Part 1: Methods for the Evaluation of the Effects of Substances on the Growth Rate of Oncorhynchus mykiss Walbaum (Teleostei, Salmonidae); under GLP conditions. A flow-through water regime was used in the study, and sublethal effects (weight and growth rates) were measured on days 14 and 28 (middle point and end of the test). No adverse effects on growth rate or weight were reported up to the highest concentration tested. Therefore, the NOEC is > 105 µg/L. Based on read across to erucamide, long term effects are not expected for oleamide.
