Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The test substance 2-oxepanone, polymer with 1,4-butanediol has been found to the readily biodegradable with 60% degradation within 7 days when incubated at a concentration of 10 mg/L and 42% degradation when incubated at a concentration of 20 mg/L. As such, removal in the environment is expected to be rapid and so further information on abiotic removal, transport and distribution are not required. A hydrolysis study concluded that 2-oxepanone, polymer with 1,4-butanediol is hydrolytically stable.

There is no risk of persistence in the environment and biological removal processes will be rapid with complete mineralization expected in a short time frame due to biodegradation.

2-Oxepanone, polymer with 1,4-butanediolhas a log Kow of 2.5 and so no significant adsorption or potential for bioaccumulation is expected.

2-Oxepanone, polymer with 1,4-butanediol has a low vapour pressure of less than 1 Pa at 25 °C. As such no significant partitioning to air will occur.
