Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The 72 h NOEC and 72 h EC50 values of Phosphoric acid, mono- and di- C16-18 (even numbered) alkyl esters in freshwater algae based on growth rate as well as on biomass yield were 200 and >200 mg/L, respectively.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In a 72 hour acute toxicity study, the cultures of Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata strain 61.81 SAG were exposed to Phosphoric acid, mono- and di- C16-18 (even numbered) alkyl esters (100%) at nominal loading rates of 0.0, 2.0, 6.3, 20, 63 and 200 mg/L under static conditions in accordance with the OECD guideline 201 (2006) and EU method C.3 (2008). Since a water accommodated fraction of the test item was tested, the reported biological results were based on the loading rate of the test item.

The microscopic examination of the algal cells at the end of the test showed no abnormalities. The test item had no statistically significant inhibitory effect on the growth of the algae (average growth rate and yield) during the test period of 72 hours up to and including the highest loading rate of 200 mg/L.

The 72 h NOEC based on growth rate as well as on biomass was 200 mg/L. The 72 h EC10 and EC50 based on growth rate as well as on biomass were >200 mg/L.
