Results and discussion

Surface tension
Surface tension:
39.28 mN/m
Temp.:
20 °C
Conc.:
1.01 g/L
Remarks on result:
other: After application of calibration factor the mean result was 41.54 mN/m resulting in the Harkins-Jordan correction factor being applied.

Any other information on results incl. tables

The measured surface tension of pure water at 20°C was determined to be 72.55 mN/m, the literature value at this temperature is 72.75 mN/m, and therefore the calibration factor was determined to be 1.0028.

After application of the calibration factor, the mean result was 41.54 mN/m. This result is significantly lower than 60 mN/m, and therefore correction using the Harkins-Jordan factor was performed. The mean corrected result was 39.28 mN/m.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The mean corrected relative density of Acetylfuranoside was 39.28 mN/m.
Executive summary:

The relative density of Acetylfuranoside was assessed in accordance with EC Directive 92/69/EEC Method A5 and OECD Guideline 115. After application of the calibration factor, the mean result was 41.54 mN/m. This result is significantly lower than 60 mN/m, and therefore correction using the Harkins-Jordan factor was performed. The mean corrected result was 39.28 mN/m.
