Additional information

The substance (XDI, an aliphatic diisocyanate) reacts with water. From this reaction, the diamine XDA is formed and CO2. The conversion of XDI to XDA in water is fast. It has been shown, in the environmental studies, that XDA is hydrolytically stable. Based on this information (e. g. half-life XDI less than 12 hours; XDI is not present in the environment), it is considered justified to conclude that the CSA for the environment needs to based on XDA.

The key values for chemical safety assessment are therefore the key values applicable for XDA.

For classification purposes, the results (as expressed in measured concentrations of XDA) have been converted to XDI concentrations (in accordance with the ECHA Guidance on the application of the CLP criteria, 4.1.3.1.1.).
