Description of key information

Long term effects on aquatic invertebrates are not expected due to the high volatility of the test substance.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Direct or indirect long-term exposure of the aquatic compartment is unlikely. No long-term exposure is to aquatic organisms is expected due to the high volatility of the test substance. Thus further testing is not appropriate and should be avoided due to animal welfare.

In addition, according to an expert statement conducted by IBACON (2011-0102-DGO and 2011-0104-DGO) the testing of 1,7-octadiene is technical not feasible in the aquatic environment due to its high volatility (vapour pressure: 18 hPa at 20 °C (2012-0454-DGP)).
