Additional information

The toxicity effects of 1,3,4-Thiadiazolidine-2,5-dithione, reaction products with hydrogen peroxide and tert-nonanethiol (CAS 91648-65-6) towards aquatic microorganisms were not investigated experimentally. In order to fulfill this endpoint, the toxic effect on growth of Pseudomonas putida of the read-across substance 1,3,4-Thiadiazolidine-2,5-dithione, reaction products with hydrogen peroxide and tert-dodecanethiol (No CAS, no EC) was investigated according to German standard DIN 38 412 by Hansonis-Jouleh (1993). The test temperature was 21 °C and the test duration 16 h. Test concentrations were used as 80 mg/L and 8000 mg/L (equal to 8 g/L). Cultivation of the pre-culture is done 7 h before inoculation at 21 °C. An aqueous extract is prepared according to DEV S 4 using 100 mg test substance. This amount is mixed with 1 L deionized water and shaked overhead for 24 h. Filtration is done with the help of a rough fluted filter and the filtrate is used for testing. In the second preparation, an eluate with 10 g/L test substance is used. The test is conducted in Erlenmeyer flasks on a shaker with incubation hood. Up to the maximal water solubility, the test substance is not toxic to Pseudomonas putida and possesses no toxic, water soluble ingredient or impurity. Therefore, the EC10(16h) was determined to be >= 8 g/L. The same applies for the EC50(16h) value.
