Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
explosiveness, other
Type of information:
read-across from supporting substance (structural analogue or surrogate)
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Justification for type of information:
For justification of read-across, please refer to IUCLID section 13.
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
read-across source
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.14 (Explosive properties)
Key result
Parameter:
sensitiveness to friction: friction load (N)
Value:
360
Remarks on result:
not sensitive to friction using a friction load of 360 N
Remarks:
In the test for frictional sensitivity at the pin load of 360 N discolored the substance brown-black. However, this coloration does not lead to the classification as "friction sensitive"
Parameter:
sensitiveness to impact: impact energy (J)
Remarks:
40 N
Remarks on result:
not sensitive to impact using an impact energy of 40 J
Remarks:
The test for mechanical sensitivity (fall hammer test) has contributed of the trap energy of 40 N also to no explosion. In all 6 experiments decomposition with smoke development was observed. The reaction was violent, the rollers were from the ring. However, the finding does not meet the criteria for classification as ,, sensitive to impact. " This would require a visible ignition or a sharp bang.
Parameter:
thermal sensitivity - Koenen test: limiting diameter (mm)
Remarks:
mass 10 mg
Number of fragments:
0
Remarks on result:
not thermal sensitive if heated under defined confinement
Remarks:
The three experiments did not lead to any explosion. There was only a short, bumpy hiss the escape of the formed decomposition gases was observed. After all three attempts the steel sleeve unchanged.
Interpretation of results:
other: The sample is not an explosion hazard according to the ChemG and SprengG.

Description of key information

The substance is not an explosive, based on read-across.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

Based on the result of a study with the source substance, the substance to be registered is not considered to be classified for explosiveness according to Classification, Labelling, and Packaging Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the result, the substance is not considered to be classified for explosiveness according to Classification, Labelling, and Packaging Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
