GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Key result
Relative self-ignition temperature:
273.88 °C
Conclusions:
The relative self-ignition temperature of the test item was 273.88 °C. An exothermic event was observed with an approximate onset temperature of 181.50°C. The peak temperature was 416.65°C. As the sample reached 400°C by self-heating, it is classed as a self-heating solid
Executive summary:

A GLP test was conducted in accordance with the procedure described in EU Regulation (EC) 440/2008, Annex Part A test A16 to provide preliminary information on the auto-flammability of the test item at elevated temperatures.

The relative self-ignition temperature was determined in a temperature programmed oven of approximately 2 litres volume with natural air circulation. A stainless steel wire mesh, 20 mm test cube with 0.045 mm openings was filled with the test sample. The cube was then gently tapped and refilled until completely full. The sample temperature was monitored by a thermocouple placed in the centre of the test cube. Another thermocouple was placed between the test cube and the oven wall to monitor oven temperature. The temperature of the oven and the sample were continuously recorded while the temperature of the oven is increased to 400°C at a rate of 0.5°C/min.

The relative self-ignition temperature of the test item was found to be 273.88 °C. An exothermic event was observed with an approximate onset temperature of 181.50°C. The peak temperature was 416.65°C. As the sample reached 400°C by self-heating, it is classed as a self-heating solid.
