Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

APPEARANCE AND PHYSICOCHEMICAL STATE

Direct Yellow 50 is a yellow organic powder at 20 °C and 1013 Pa. The volumetric distribution of particles size shows that the d(0.5) is ca 48.374 µm.

The test item melting/boiling points were investigated using the Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), according to OECD Test Guidelines 102 and 103. The imbibition water/solvent release was observed between 28-210 °C, followed by decomposition of the tested substance. No melting and boiling point was determined.

Based on thermal behaviour, the vapour pressure is expected to be negligible.

SOLUBILITY AND PARTITION COEFFICIENT

The partition coefficient of DY50 has been determined by means of shake flask method; the average of logPow resulted to be -1.8941, at 20 °C and pH 6.68. The study outcomes are indicative of a high affinity with the water phase, respect than the octanol one.

The water solubility was performed following the recommendations of the OECD method 105 and the average between 24, 48 and 96 hours resulted to be 66.67 g/l at 20 °C and pH 8.27, confirming the high affinity with water phase, rather than the octanol one.

PHYSICAL HAZARDS

The substance does not meet the criteria to be considered as flammable, self-igniting, explosive or oxidising.
