Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

partition coefficient
Type of information:
calculation (if not (Q)SAR)
Adequacy of study:
key study
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
test procedure in accordance with national standard methods
according to guideline
OECD Guideline 107 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), Shake Flask Method)
Version / remarks:
It was not possible to experimentally determine the partition coefficient of the substance as it is surface active. An estimated logP was therefore calculated from its solubillity in water and n-octanol as provided for in the guideline.
not applicable
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
estimation method (solubility ratio)
Key result
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
ca. 5.51
Remarks on result:
other: Estimated by calculation.
The estimated logP of the test substance calculated from its solubility in water and n-octanol was 5.51.
Executive summary:

The partition coefficient of the test substance was calcuated by a method outlined in the following guideline OECD 107: Partition Coefficient (n-octanol/water): Shake Flask Method. An experimental determination of the test substances partition coefficient was not possible becuase it is surface active.

The partition coefficient was calculated from the ratio of the test substances solubility in water and n-octanol usign the following formula: LogP = log(concentration in octanol phase / concentration in the water phase).

Result and Conclusion

The estimated logP of the test substance calculated from its solubility in water and n-octanol was 5.51.
