Data on the aquatic toxicity of N-ethylcaprolactam are available for three trophic levels (fish, aquatic invertebrates, algae). The available studies were conducted according to OECD guidelines and in accordance with GLP. All determined E(L)C50 values were >100 mg/L. The determined NOErC (72 h) for algae was ≥ 100 mg/L. Thus acute or chronic toxic effects of the substance to aquatic organisms are not expected. Based on the results of the available study on the toxicity to microorganisms and the data for the toxicity control of the biodegradation study effects on the degradation process in STPs are not expected.
