The flame of the gas burner did ignite the test material pile. The test material glowed, burned with a orange flame, emitted sparks and turned into a grey black charred residue. Grey smoke was observed. After removal of the ignition source, the flame extinguished after 1 second and no propagation of combustion was observed.

Conclusions:
Under the conditions of the study, the test material has been determined to be not highly flammable as it failed to propagate combustion in the preliminary screening test.
Executive summary:

The flammability of the test material was investigated in accordance with the standardised guidelines UN Method N.10 and EU Method A.10, under GLP conditions.

In the preliminary screening test, no propagation of combustion of the test material along 200 mm length of the pile within 4 minutes was observed. According to the guidelines, performance of the burning rate test is not required.

Under the conditions of this study, the test material is considered ‘not highly flammable’.

Under the conditions of this study, the test material is considered ‘not highly flammable’.

In accordance with Section 1 of Annex XI of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 (REACH), it is considered justified to omit the Flammability (Contact with Water) and Pyrophoric Properties of Solids and Liquids studies, also required under section 7.10 of Annex VII, on the basis that the testing does not appear to be scientifically necessary. Experience of handling the material and the known chemical and physical properties of the substance suggest that it is not pyrophoric and is not flammable in contact with water.

The flammability of the test material was investigated in accordance with the standardised guidelines UN Method N.10 and EU Method A.10, under GLP conditions. The study was awarded a reliability score of 1 in accordance with the criteria set forth by Klimisch et al. (1997).

In the preliminary screening test, no propagation of combustion of the test material along 200 mm length of the pile within 4 minutes was observed. According to the guidelines, performance of the burning rate test is not required.

Under the conditions of this study, the test material is considered ‘not highly flammable’.

Justification for classification or non-classification

In accordance with the criteria for classification as defined in Annex I, Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, the substance does not require classification with respect to flammability.
