Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Conclusion on classification

Degradation

Biodegradation: not readily biodegradable (17 - 29% biodegradation, OECD 301B) based on read across from reaction mass containing six benzylated amine silanes.

Hydrolysis half-life: < 16 min

Bioaccumulation

Log Kow 1,2-Ethanediamine, N-{3-(trihydroxysilyl)propyl}-,N-{(ethenylphenyl)methyl}derivate, hydrochlorides: -5.3 to 3.83 (QSAR)

Aquatic acute toxicity

Fish: LC50 (96 h) = 75 mg/L (nominal, OECD 203) based on read across from reaction mass containing six benzylated amine silanes.

Aquatic invertebrates: EC50 (48 h) = 74 mg/L (nominal, OECD 202) based on read across from reaction mass containing six benzylated amine silanes.

Algae/aquatic plant: ErC50 (72 h) = 69 mg/L (nominal, OECD 201) based on read across from reaction mass containing six benzylated amine silanes.

Aquatic chronic toxicity:

Fish: NOEC (28 d) = 5 mg/L (nominal, OECD 215) based on read across from reaction mass containing six benzylated amine silanes.

Algae/aquatic plant: NOErC (72 h) = 10 mg/L (nominal, OECD 201) based on read across from reaction mass containing six benzylated amine silanes.

Classification according to CLP

The environmental classification of 1,2-Ethanediamine, N-{3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl}-, N-{(ethenylphenyl)methyl}derivate, hydrochlorides (CAS No. 171869-89-9) is based on the classification of the read across substance Reaction mass containing six benzylated amine silanes (EC No. 700-961-2). The read across substance has an EU harmonized classification in Annex VI as "chronic category 3" (H412). However, based on available data with the read across substance the registrant proposed a modificaiton of the classificaion to "chronic category 2" (H411). Thus, the source substance is also classified and labeled as “chronic category 2” (H411) according to the consolidated version of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 and further amendments (ATPs).
