Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.17 (Oxidising Properties (Solids))
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
Due to the lack of test material the train test was repeated a further four times at the two highest burning rates rather than the specified five. The results were suffficiently conclusive for this deviation not affect the conclusion of the study.
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
Under the conditions of the study, the maximum burning rate of the sample mixtures is below the determined highest burning rate of the reference mixture therefore the test substance is considered not oxidising.
Executive summary:

A GLP study was performed in accordance with Method EC A.17, to determine the oxidising properties of barium selenate. The preliminary test showed no vigorous reaction, therefore a train test was performed using powdered cellulose as the combustible substance. The maximum burning rate of the test substance in the train test was 0.66 mm/s compared with the maximum burning rate of the reference substance barium nitrate. The test item is not considered to be oxidising as the maximum burning rate is significantly lower than that of the reference substance.

No classification with respect to oxidising properties is required.
