Based on the fluorescence data, the inhibition of the test substance after pH-adjustment was close to the inhibition of the not pH-adjusted test samples of 125 and 500 mg/L, although the pH of the adjusted solutions was lower than in those without pH-adjustment (inhibition: not adjusted/adjusted: 125 mg/L: 66% / 64%; 500 mg/L: 73% / 78%). At a concentration of 15.625 mg/L, the inihibition was lower in the not pH-adjusted solutions than in the pH-adjusted sample (inhibition: not adjusted / adjusted: 8% / 36%). It can be concluded that the pH-adjustment did not have a positive effect on algal growth.

The following nominal effect concentrations related to yield (EyC) and growth rate (ErC) were recalculated according to OECD TG 201 (adopted 23 Mar 2006) using the fluorescence values for inhibition of biomass from the original report. Since no calibration curve data were available, fluorescence data were equated with cell numbers (95 % confidence intervals in brackets):
