The substance was determined to be readily biodegradable under the conditions of the ready biodegradation test following the OECD guideline 301F and is, therefore, not considered persistent.

Further biotic degradation testing such as simulation tests in surface water, sediment and soil is waived. Since the substance is readily biodegradable simulation tests will provide little additional information as rapid mineralisation in the environment is already assumed.

Assessment of hydrolytic stability was not performed as the substance is readily biodegradable and as such, according to Regulation (EC) 1907/2006, it is unnecessary to investigate hydrolysis as a function of pH.

Information on phototransformation in air, water and soil is not available. It is not a standard information requirement under REACH.

Amyl salicylate has an estimated BCF of 380 - 570 L/Kg based on analogy with the structural analogue, cyclohexyl salicylate, and a predicted value of 209 to 254 L/Kg using QSAR. Given that the upper range of estimates exceeds the CLP threshold value of >= 500 L/kg, amyl salicylate is considered to have the potential to bioconcentrate for classification purposes. However, it clearly does not fulfil the B-criterion of BCF > 2000 L/kg for the PBT assessment.

Based on a moderate log Koc of 3.7 the substance may have the potential to adsorb to sludge and soil/ sediment particles.
