First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures

Inhalation Remove exposed person to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for

breathing.

If experiencing respiratory symptoms, call a poison centre or doctor.

Skin Quickly remove contaminated clothing and wash affected area with soap and water.

Call a doctor if irritation, rash, or other symptoms occur.

Wash contaminated clothing before re-use.

Eye In case of contact with eyes, irrigate with room-temperature water or eyewash

solution for several minutes, occasionally lifting eyelids.

Remove any contact lenses if easy to do.

Continue rinsing.

Get prompt medical attention if irritation persists.

Ingestion If swallowed, rinse mouth thoroughly and give water to drink.

Get prompt medical attention.

Do not induce vomiting, unless instructed by medical personnel.

4.2 Most important symptoms/effects, acute and delayed

Not available.

4.3 Indication of immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Treat symptoms as they occur.

Fire-fighting measures

Section 5: Firefighting measures

5.1 Extinguishing media

Suitable Water, carbon dioxide or halogenated fire-extinguishing agents.

Unsuitable Not available.

5.2 Special hazards arising from the chemical

The product is not classified as flammable.

However, if involved in a fire product will decompose giving hazardous smoke, fumes and gases.

Dust may produce explosive mixture with air.

5.3 Special protective equipment and precautions for fire-fighters

Remove containers from fire or cool them with water spray.

Firefighters should wear self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing.

Prevent water from firefighting from entering water-courses or drainage system.

Accidental release measures

Section 6: Accidental release measures

6.1 Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

For large spills, wear full personal protection.

Keep unauthorized personnel from the spillage area.

Ventilate area and avoid creating airborne dust.

Take precautionary measures against static discharge and use non-sparking equipment.

Follow prescribed procedures for responding to large spills and reporting to authorities.

For recommended personal protective equipment, see Section 8.

For disposal considerations, see Section 13.

6.2 Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Prevent product from entering water courses or drainage system.

Clean up spill as soon as possible.

For small quantities, wipe off with cloth or paper.

For large quantities, carefully sweep up or collect using vacuum cleaner.

Follow prescribed procedures for responding to large spills and reporting to appropriate authorities.

Wash contaminated surfaces with water and detergent.

Collect waste, washings, and contaminated materials for safe disposal.

Handling and storage

Section 7: Handling and storage

7.1 Precautions for safe handling

Avoid skin and eye contact with the product, and inhalation of dust, using measures described in Section 8.

Use only in a well-ventilated area.

Wash hands after use.

Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product.

Keep away from sources of ignition. Use only non-sparking equipment.

7.2 Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Keep container tightly closed.

Store containers in a cool, dry, well ventilated place away from direct sunlight.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Section 8: Exposure controls/personal protection

8.1 Control parameters

Exposure limits Particles not otherwise classified/regulated:

OSHA PEL TWA, 15 mg/m3; 5 mg/m3 (respirable fraction).

8.2 Engineering controls

Good general ventilation is recommended.

Local exhaust ventilation is recommended during mixing or processing where dust might be generated.

8.3 Individual protection measures

The need for personal protective equipment should be based on a workplace risk assessment for the particular use.

Avoid skin and eye contact by wearing chemical resistant gloves and safety goggles.

Where more extensive contact may occur, wear suitable protective clothing (eg apron, sleeves, boots).

Wear respiratory protective equipment (dust mask), if exposure to dust is foreseen.

PPE should be to state or federal standards. Consult manufacturers concerning breakthrough times.

Stability and reactivity

Section 10: Stability and reactivity

10.1 Reactivity

Not available.

10.2 Chemical stability

Stable under recommended storage and handling conditions. No hazardous polymerization.

10.3 Possibility of hazardous reactions

Not available.

10.4 Conditions to avoid

Avoid storage at high temperatures, or in direct sunlight.

10.5 Incompatible materials

Strong acids, alkalis, and oxidising agents.

10.6 Hazardous decomposition products

None known

Disposal considerations

Section 13: Disposal considerations

13.1 Waste treatment methods

Incineration or landfill is recommended for this product and any recovered material.

Disposal via drains is not recommended.

This product and contaminated containers should be disposed of according to current local, state, or federal regulations.

Local regulations may be more stringent than federal requirements.
