PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

2,4 -Bismaleimidotoluene was not readily biodegradable in a test conducted according to OECD guideline 301B but abiotic degradation was shown in a Hydrolysis test according to OECD 111, thus the substance is not considered to be persistent. The substance is not considered to have a bioaccumulating potential due to the low log Kow (-0.0036) and based on available, reliable and relevant acute aquatic toxicity data the lowest L(E)C50 value was 0.433 mg/L. Due to lack of chronic toxicity data and under consideration of the physicochemical properties, the substance is classified into acute Category 1 according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP). According to the ECHA guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment Chapter R.11 the lowest L(E)C50 value of > 0.1 mg/L requires no further assesssment. In summary, the substance is regarded to be not persistent or bioaccumulating and toxic.
