Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates

In the static immobilization test (BASF SE, 94/0912/50/1, 1995), young Daphnia magna STRAUSS (< 24 h old) were exposed to the test item for 48 hours according to OECD 202 (1984). The EC50 value was determined to be nominal 20.8 mg/L.

Toxicity to algae and cyanobacteria

The toxicity of the test substance to the freshwater alga Scenedesmus subspicatus was determined in a study (BASF SE, 94/0912/60/1, 1997) according to the principles of the EU Method C.3 (Algal Inhibition test (1979) under GLP conditions. The test revealed a 72h-ErC50 greater than 100 mg/L, a 72h-ErC10 of 14 mg/L and a 72h-NOEC of 3.13 mg/L. All values were based on nominal concentrations.

Toxicity to microorganisms

The toxic effects of the test substance on the oxygen consumption rate of aerobic micro-organisms (activated sludge) after a short-term exposure of 30 min was determined in a study (BASF SE, 94/0912/08/2, 1994) according to the OECD 209 under GLP conditions. The EC50 was determined to be greater than 1000 mg/L.
