The requirement to conduct an n-octanol/water partition coefficient for 3-(chlorodimethylsilyl)propyl methacrylate is waived because in contact with water, the substance hydrolyses very rapidly to form 3-[hydroxy(dimethyl)silyl]propyl methacrylate and hydrochloric acid.

The silanol hydrolysis product, 3-[hydroxy(dimethyl)silyl]propyl methacrylate has a predicted log Kow value of 2.6 at 20°C using a validated QSAR estimation method.

Log Kow is not relevant for the non-silanol hydrolysis product, hydrochloric acid, as it is inorganic.
