Description of key information

Appearance

The test item was observed to consist of ivory coloured flakes.

 

Melting/freezing point

The melting temperature of the test item was determined using differential scanning calorimetry to be over the range 29 to 58 °C (302 to 331 K).

 

Boiling point

The test item was determined to decompose from approximately 150 °C (423 K) at 101 kPa (OECD 103 and EU Method A.2).

Relative density

The density of the test item was determined to be 1.08 x 10E03 kg/m3 at 20.0 ± 1.0 °C and the relative density was reported as 1.08 (OECDE 109 and EU Method A.3).

 

Granulometry

The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is marketed or used in non-solid or granular form.

 

Vapour pressure

The vapour pressure of an analogue test item was determined by the balance method to be 6.27 x 10E-03 Pa at 25 °C (298 K), 1.51 x 10E-02 Pa at 55 °C (328 K) and 7.24 x 10E-02 Pa at 85 °C (358 K) (OECD 104 and EU Method A.4).

Partition coefficient

The partition coefficient of the test item was determined to be 2.32 x 10E07 to > 1 x 10E10 with Log Pow reported as 7.37 to > 10.0 (OECD 117 and EU Method A.8).

 

Water solubility

The water solubility of the test item was determined to be < 2.07 x 10E-05 g/L at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C with a nominal loading rate of 0.1 g/L (OECD 105 and EU Method A.6).

Surface tension

The study does not need to be conducted because water solubility of the substance is below 1 mg/L at 20°C.

 

Flash point

The flash point of the test item was determined to be 251 ± 2 °C using the equilibrium closed cup method (EU Method A.9).

 

Auto-ignition temperature

The test item was determined to have an auto-ignition temperature of 394 ± 5 °C at 101 kPa (EU Method A.15).

Flammability

The substance is a low melting point solid with a determined melting temperature of 29 to 58 °C (302 to 331 K). Consequently, a flash point determination was performed to fulfil the requirement for information on flammability of the substance. The test material was found to have a flash point of 251±2 °C and experience in use shows that the substance is not pyrophoric and does not emit flammable gases in contact with water.

 

Explosive properties

The result for explosive properties of an analogue substance was predicted negative based on the chemical structure of the test item (EU Method A.14).

Oxidising properties

The result for oxidising properties of an analogue substance was predicted negative based on the chemical structure of the test item (EU Method A.21).
