Melting temperature:

In pretests (Test 1 to 3), a broad endothermic process was observed.

Together with the registered weight lass as found in Test 3 up to 150 °C (3.8 %) this can be explained as evaporation of water or other volatile components. Therefore the test item was dried at 150 °C for 10 minutes to remove these volatiles. After that, a small endothermic process was found starting at 175 °C ranging up to 191 °C with a pronounced peak at 184 °C in the 2nd heating (determination A and B).

This result was confirmed by the observation of the capillary test-tube (Non-GLP), where the test item slumped down in the temperature range between about 170°C to 190°C .

Observed thermic processes:

An endothermic area was observed starting at about 50 °C up to about 150 °C (Test 1, 2 and 3, 1st heating). With the observation of no visual change by the capillary test-tube (Non-GLP) and the registered weight lass of 3.8 % (Test 3) this was interpreted as a lass of humidity and other volatile components.

After determination A, Band Test 2, measured up to 200 °c , the test item was merged and the color had darkened. After having cooled down the test item from this temperature above the melting range, the test item has not been crystallized, because no melting could be found but only a glass transition at about 182 °C (3rd heating of determination A and B).

Heated up to 350 °C the test item showed a small exothermic peak at 239 °C peak temperature (Test 1, 1st heating). After the test the color of the test item had changed into black. With the observation of the capillary test-tube and the registered weight lass of 9.1 % this was interpreted as decomposition of the test item.

These observations were rudimentary confirmed by the preliminary TG/DSC-Test (non-GLP).
