Description of key information

The half-life for hydrolysis for 1,6-Hexanediol dimethacrylate was experimentally determined to be 78.2 hours at 38 °C (pH9) according to OECD 111. (Evonik Industries AG, 2001). Methacrylates are hydrolytically stable at acidic and neutral pH. At a pH 9 or 11, significant hydrolysis is observed with a trend toward decreased hydrolysis rate with increasing chain length and branching. The pH range relevant to determination of environmental fate is generally between pH 5 and 7; therefore, hydrolysis is not a significant route of degradation in the environment.

The half-life for hydrolysis for1,6-Hexanediol dimethacrylate was determined experimentally to be 78.2 hours at 38 °C (pH9) according to OECD 111. For tests at pH7 there were no reproducable results because of great variance of analytical results. The tests were

finished. (Evonik Industries AG, 2001). In an other study the half-life for hydrolysis for 1,6 -Hexanediol dimethacrylate was estimated by calculation to be 40.3 years at 25 °C (pH7) (Evonik Industries AG, 2014).
