Description of key information

No cool flames were observed. The autoignition temperature of the test item was determined to be 272 °C (EU Method A.15).

The test was conducted in accordance with the procedure described in EU Regulation (EC) 440/2008, Annex Part A test A.15.

 

METHODS

A small, metered sample of the test item was inserted into a uniformly heated 500 ml glass flask containing air at a predetermined temperature. The contents of the flask were observed in a dark environment for 10 minutes following insertion of the sample, or until autoignition occurs. Autoignition is identified by the sudden appearance of a flame inside the flask and by a sharp rise in the temperature of the gas mixture. The lowest internal flask temperature at which the hot-flame ignition occurred for a series of prescribed sample volumes was taken to be the hot-flame autoignition (AIT) of the chemical in air at atmospheric pressure. Ignition delay times (ignition time lags) were measured in order to determine the ignition delay / ignition temperature relationship. The lowest temperature at which cool flames (CFT) are observed was also recorded. In all instances the ignition delay times were recorded.

 

RESULTS

No cool flames were observed. The autoignition temperature of the test item was determined to be 272 °C.
