Additional information

The substance is a dark brown/black powder with a characteristic odour.

In a DSC analysis showed decomposition beginning at 325 °C.

Relative density value was 1.6325 at 20 °C according to the OECD109, pycnometer method.

Granulometry is of considerable importance for the toxic properties of a substance as it influences aspects such as: the route of exposure of humans and toxicity by inhalation; the choice of route of administration for animal testing; the efficiency of uptake in an organism; the distribution in the environment.

The substance presented a granulometry mass median aerodynamic diameter (MMAD)= 50.9 µm, tested according to the OECD 110. This granulometry can be considered as inhalable fractions.

Less than the 0.2% in volume of the test item has a particle size <= 4 µm (respirable fraction -the mass fraction of particles that reaches the alveoli).

According to Annex VII of REACH Regulation1907/2006, column 2, vapour pressure test does not need to be conducted for this substance but the lowest value accepted by EUSES has been reported for a complete Risk assessment (0.0000001 Pa).

Partition coefficient determined in HPLC (OECD 117) was stated as < 0.3 (log Pow), and the solubility was 87.75 ± 1.53 g/L at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C (OECD105).

According to Annex VII of the REACH Regulation 1907/2006, Column 2, the study needs only be conducted if surface activity is expected or can be predicted; or surface activity is a desired property of the material. Based on the structure and the use, no surface activity for the substance is expected.

The substance is not flammable, It is not expected to be auto-flammable, explosive and with no oxidising properties, based on the chemical structure, the oxygen balance calculation and the well-known experience in handling and uses of the substance.
