Description of key information

Phototransformation

In accordance with Annex X of the Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), information regarding the photo-transformation in air, as well as in water and soil, is not mandatory.

Stability

The test item, 4,4’-(1-phenylethane-1,1-diyl)bis(heptyloxybenzene), was determined to have a water solubility of ≤ 4.4 x 10-7g/L and no analytical method was available to support the hydrolysis test at this low concentration level, therefore, the hydrolysis of the substance could therefore not be performed and the potential for abiotic degradation could not be assessed.

Biodegradation

A reliable study (Klimisch 1) to determine the ready biodegradability for the test substance, 4,4’-(1-phenylethane-1,1-diyl)bis(heptyloxybenzene), measured <5% degradation after 28 days. The test substance should be classified as not readily biodegradable under the conditions of the test.

Bioaccumulation

In accordance with Annex X of the Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), information regarding the bioaccumulation of 4,4’-(1-phenylethane-1,1-diyl)bis(heptyloxybenzene) is not mandatory.

Transport and distribution

A reliable study (Klimisch 1) to determine the adsorption/desorption for 4,4’-(1-phenylethane-1,1-diyl)bis(heptyloxybenzene) at neutral pH showed a measured KOC of >4.3 x 10^5 and a log KOC of >5.63.
