First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures
First-aid measures general : First Aid, decontamination, treatment of symptoms. In all cases of doubt, or when symptoms persist, seek medical advice.
First-aid measures after inhalation : Remove casualty to fresh air and keep warm and at rest. If breathing is difficult, remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing.
First-aid measures after skin contact : Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap. Remove contaminated clothes.
First-aid measures after eye contact : Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing.
First-aid measures after ingestion : Rinse mouth thoroughly with water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person or a person with cramps. Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical advice.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed
Symptoms/injuries after inhalation : Inhalation of dust may cause irritation of the respiratory system (coughing, shortness of breath).
Symptoms/injuries after skin contact : staining of the skin. irritant.
Symptoms/injuries after eye contact : staining of the eyes. irritant.
Symptoms/injuries after ingestion : There may be irritation.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media
Suitable extinguishing media : water spray, carbon dioxide (CO2), foam and powder.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture
Explosion hazard : In the case of dusty organic products the possibility of a dust explosion should always be
considered.
Reactivity : On burning: release of harmful/irritant gases/vapours.

Advice for firefighters
Firefighting instructions : Avoid formation of dust. Standard procedure for chemical fires.
Protection during firefighting : Use appropriate respiratory protection.
Other information : Contaminated fire-fighting water must be collected separately.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
General measures : Avoid breathing dust/fume/gas/mist/vapours/spray. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing.
- For non-emergency personnel
Protective equipment : Wear personal protection equipment. Refer to exposure controls/personal protection.
Emergency procedures : Ensure adequate ventilation. Minimize generation of dust. Wear suitable respiratory equipment in case of insufficient ventilation. Keep unprotected persons from entering.
- For emergency responders
Protective equipment : Wear personal protection equipment. Refer to exposure controls/personal protection.
Emergency procedures : Ensure adequate ventilation. Minimize generation of dust. Wear suitable respiratory equipment in case of insufficient ventilation. Keep unprotected persons from entering.

Environmental precautions
Do not empty into drains or the aquatic environment.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up
Methods for cleaning up : Pick up carefully when dry. Wash away remainder with plenty of water. This material and its container must be disposed of in a safe way, and as per local legislation.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling
Precautions for safe handling : Avoid generation of dust. Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking. Reduce/avoid exposure and/or contact.
Hygiene measures : Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Do not drink, eat or smoke in the workplace.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
Storage conditions : Keep away from food, drink and animal feedingstuffs. Keep out of the reach of children. Keep container tightly closed and dry.
Incompatible products : Do not allow water (or moist air) contact with this material.
Prohibitions on mixed storage : Keep away from food, drink and animal feedingstuffs.
Storage area : Ensure adequate ventilation of the storage area. Keep container tightly closed. Store in a cool dry place.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Control parameters
No additional information available

Exposure controls
Appropriate engineering controls : Ventilate area. Emergency eye wash fountains and safety showers should be available in the immediate vicinity of any potential exposure.
Personal protective equipment : Dust formation: dust mask. Gloves. Protective clothing. Safety glasses.
Hand protection : Wear suitable gloves resistant to chemical penetration (to European standard EN 374 or equivalent), e.g. PVC or nitrile rubber. Gloves must be replaced after each use, whenever signs
of wear appear and in the event of contamination. With dry solids, no permeation is expected.
The breakthrough time of the glove is therefor not measured. The exact breakthrough time has to be found out by the manufacturer of the protective gloves and has to be observed.
Eye protection : Tightly sealed safety glasses. (to European standard EN 166 or equivalent).
Skin and body protection : Wear suitable protective clothing.
Respiratory protection : If suitable ventilation is not available use suitable respiratory equipment, e.g. dust/aerosol mask. (to European standard EN 143 or 149 or equivalent).
Environmental exposure controls : Avoid release to the environment.
Other information : Keep away from food, drink and animal feedingstuffs.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity
On burning: release of harmful/irritant gases/vapours.

Chemical stability
The product is stable at normal handling- and storage conditions.

Possibility of hazardous reactions
In the case of dusty organic products the possibility of a dust explosion should always be considered.

Conditions to avoid
high temperatures.

Incompatible materials
Reducing agents. Oxidizing agents.

Hazardous decomposition products
When exposed to high temperatures may produce hazardous decomposition products such as carbon monoxide and dioxide, smoke, nitrogen oxides (NOx)

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods
Regional legislation (waste) : Observe regulations when disposing.
Sewage disposal recommendations : Substance must not be discharged into the sewer.
Waste disposal recommendations : Consider recycling. Remove to an authorized waste incinerator.
EURLW code : 04 02 16* - dyestuffs and pigments containing dangerous substances
