Description of key information

Non explosive.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

Based on thermal analysis, in terms of decomposition temperature and energy, and known experience in handling and use, the substance is deemed not to be explosive.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the CLP Regulation (EC 1272/2008), substances, mixtures and articles are classified as an unstable explosive on the basis of the flowchart in Figure 2.1.2 of the CLP Regulation. The test methods are described in Part I of the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria.

Explosives, which are not classified as unstable explosives, shall be classified in one of the six divisions based on Test Series 2 to 8 in Part I of the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria according to the results of the tests of explosiveness, sensitiveness and thermal stability, laid down in Table 2.1.1 of the CLP Regulation.

Based on the thermal analysis, in terms of decomposition temperature (ca. 300 °C) and energy (350 J/g), and known experience in handling and use, the substance is deemed not to be potentially explosive, therefore it is not classified.
