Description of key information

1-Benzyl-3-carbamoyl-pyridinium, chloride is a white solid powder (20°C, 101.325 Pa). The melting point is about 240°C. The boiling point could not be assigned, due to the substance decomposing at 257 °C.

The density of the substance is 1.351 g/cm³ ± 0.010 g/cm³ at 20.0 °C ± 0.5 °C. The particle size distribution is not a mandatory characterization for the substance, because the substance is marketed/used in a non-solid or granular form.

The vapour pressure could not be determined (no vapour pressure up to 150 °C in the pure sample; decomposition at higher temperatures).

The substance is highly soluble in water, i.e. 489 g/L at 20 °C. It is considered non-soluble in n-octanol. Thus, the log Pow was determined to be below -2. Within a saturated solution of 1 -Benzyl-3-carbamoyl-pyridinium, chloride in water the pH was determined with about 2 (20°C).

The substance is not auto-flammable, not highly flammable, but direct contact to fire should be avoided. No chemical groups associated with explosive properties, are present in the molecule, therefore explosiveness was not investigated. No oxidizing properties were detected.
