Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

2 -Ethylhexyl (diphenyl) phosphate is a liquid substance at ambient temperatures as indicated by its melting point of -30 deg.C.

The aqueous solubility of 2EHDPP is well below 1 mg/L (0.056 mg/L at 21 deg.C), which by definition, indicates that it is a “poorly soluble” substance. When poorly water soluble substances like 2EHDPP also have a specific gravity approximately equal to that of water, undissolved material may remain throughout the water column when the test material is added in excess to water.

The log Kow found is of 5.87 and a log Koc of 4.85 calculated using the "predominantly hydrophobic" (Q)SAR of EUSES 2.1.

The hydrolysis rate of 2-ethylhexyl diphenyl phosphate is temperature and pH-dependant. The half-life for hydrolysis at 35 degrees Celsius and pH 4 is 219 days and 102 -109 and 40.8 days at 25 degrees Celsius and pH's 7 and 9.

2 -Ethylhexyl (diphenyl) phosphate was found readily biodegradable in a screening test using OECD guideline 301B. By definition, 2EHDPP is a substance that “rapidly degrades”. In terms of bioaccumulation potential, a measured BCF of 934 is available. 2EHDPP is therefore, neither persistent nor bioaccumulative.
