Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The bioconcentration factor (BCF) was determined by two methods: direct measurement and by estimation by QSAR.
An OECD guideline study in Cpyprinus carpio (common carp) by the Japan National Institute of Technology and Evaluation (NITE) resulted in a BCF of 2.6 L/kg.
The BCF was also estimated by BCFBAF v3.00, a model within Estimation Programs Interface Suite™ for Microsoft ® Windows, v4.00. This estimated BCF is useful to evaluate the potential for bioaccumulation in both aquatic and terrestrial habitats.

Additional information

The BCF for 3-methylpyridine, based on an experimental value of 2.6 L/kg and an estimated value 2.876 L/kg wet weight (log BCF = 0.459), indicates that this compound has a low potential for bioaccumulation. the directly measured value in fish was selected as the key value for aquatic habitats.
