Conclusion on classification

Short-term fish, Daphnia and algae toxicity studies are available on the test substance. Based on the results from the available studies, Daphnia has been identified to be the most sensitive species. The short-term 48 h EC50 value for the test substance in Daphnia was determined to be 25.8 mg/L (measured) and the long-term equivalent NOEC value from the algae study was at 38.15 mg/L (measured). Considering that the test substance is not readily biodegradable and based on the acute toxicity data, the test substance warrants an ‘Aquatic Chronic Cat. 3’ (H412: Harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects) classification according to the EU CLP criteria (EC 1272/2008). However, based on long-term term data from the algae study, the test substance does not warrant any classification for chronic aquatic toxicity. Therefore, the more stringent classification as ‘Aquatic Chronic Cat. 3’ (H412: Harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects) has been taken forward for the test substance.
