Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

Decades of experience handling saturated perfluorocarbons have indicated no toxic effects for any of these substances, although we have no access to sensitisation testing for this compound. Their use in medical applications supports the data, and perfluorodecalin specifically has been used for liquid ventilation in the lungs and as the oxygen carrying component of "artificial blood" among other uses.

Respiratory sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
