Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Details on results:
Growth rate of Selenastrum capricornutum was reduced by 50% at Cd concentrations between 80-120 μg L-1 with CdO as test substance. A similar test was performed with filtrates of a dispersion of metallic Cd powder. The EC50 values for growth were 70-89 μg L-1 with Cd as test substance, similar to the values obtained with the CdO filtrates. This indicates that the filtrates of the CdO and metallic Cd
dispersions have the same Cd speciation, i.e. predominantly Cd2+ ions. The candidate substance of this application is
likely to behave similarly to CdO and Cd metal.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Because of the similarity of the candidate substance of this application to cadmium oxide, it is expected that the same effect concentrations noted for cadmium oxide and cadmium metal would also apply to the candidate substance of this application.
