Description of key information

FAT 41045 is non flammable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

The determination of the flammability of the test item was performed in accordance with the EEC Directive 92/69, Part A, Methods for the determination of physico-chemical properties, A. 10 "Flammability (solids)", EEC Publication No. L383, December 1992. FAT 41'030/A could not be ignited with a flame during the preliminary test (contact time of about 2 minutes). In contact with the ignition source, the test item emitted some sparks and sustained burning for about 5 to 10 seconds but extinguished then. No soot or fume was observed. A granular, blue to black carbonized residue remained. Therefore, no main test was performed. In conclusion, FAT 41'030/A is non flammable.

FAT 41045 is also considered to be non flammable, as its chemical structure is almost identical with that of FAT 41'030/A

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance is not subject to classification for flammability according to CLP (Regulation EC No 1272/2008) or DSD (Directive 67/548/EEC) as the substance does not react with air becoming pyrophoric, does not react with water to release flammable gases and does not burn when ignited with an open flame. Thuis the substance is neither flammable nor pyrophoric.
