Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The algal growth inhibition to Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata, was carried out according to OECD TG 201 Freshwater Alga and Cyanobacteria, Growth Inhibition Test and EU Method C.3 guidelines. The aim of the study was to assess the effects on growth rate and yield over a period of 72 hours. The study was conducted under static conditions with an initial cell density of 6153 cells/mL. Five Water Accommodated Fractions (WAF) were tested in a geometrical series with a dilution factor of 2 (nominal): 1.25- 2.50- 5.00- 10.0- 20.0 mg/L. Three replicates were tested for each test item loading and six replicates for the control. The environmental conditions were within the acceptable limits. The test solutions were clear and the test item was dissolved throughout the test period. The concentrations of test substance were analytically verified via analysis of total organic carbon (TOC, according to DIN EN 1484) at the start of the exposure (fresh solutions without components of the dilution water, 0 hours). Analysis of the TOC is the most suitable method for the analytical monitoring of poorly soluble substances. The validity criteria of the test guideline were fulfilled. The EL50 for growth rate reduction (72h-ErL50) based on nominal loading in a WAF was 5.69 (C.I. 5.46-5.94) mg/L. The ErL10 was 1.96 (C.I. < 1.25 – 2.49) mg/L. The EL50 for inhibition of yield (72h-EyL50) based on nominal loading in a WAF was 2.57 (C.I. 2.32-2.82) mg/L. The EyL10 was < 1.25 mg/L. The corresponding NOELR was < 1.25 mg/L, respectively.
