Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Any other information on results incl. tables

During testing of powders in the 201 sphere test to BS6713 and ISO6184/1 1985 approximately seven different concentrations are tested. The mean values are given for each of the concentrations tested. The final quoted valued for pressure, rate of pressure rise and concentration are calculated from the mean of the maximum values during test series 1, 2, &3 in accordance with the 201 sphere test protocol.

Maximum values are not quoted. The average result over the three series is given. This is because slight variations in turbulence or chemical ignitor energy may marginally effect the results.

The standard test does not provide the maximum rate of pressure rise; a decrease in ignition delay will give higher maximum rate of pressure rise data. The turbulence level is selected to correlate with data from l arge (industrial scale) vessels. The cube root Law on which the 201 sphere test is based, assumes that on plant scale, the dust suspension is quiescent (i.e., negligible turbulence).

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The Kst (bar.m/s) value is 321.
Executive summary:

The Kst (bar.m/s) value is 321. According to the relationship between the Kst value and the physical severity of dust explosion a value greater than 300 indicates very strong explosion.
